The pursuit of happiness is something every being is engaged in. While animals appear to strive for it subconsciously, humans are aware of their need.
Our happiness is a divine right and each one of us deserves to be successful and to live a meaningful life. For many this may seem unattainable as the drive and focus of our world is on the need to acquire more and more. For some happiness is left for when we have what we want. We leave the thoughts and feelings to some time in the future when we are able to focus on what we enjoy. But for us to live a vital life it is important to find enjoyment and appreciation for our life right now.
Happiness may come from enjoying companionship within relationships to savoring our natural environment, to discovering our virtues and strengths or to experiencing a deep sense of fulfillment by using our unique abilities for the greater good of all. For each of us this will mean something different. If we place our focus on taking care of ourselves and on nurturing our own strengths it becomes easier to discover and to define what makes us feel happy. Some find happiness in a balanced, stress-free life while others thrive on the excitement of stress.
New psychological studies are confirming what many great philosophical and spiritual thinkers have been teaching for centuries, that our actions, our attitudes and our thoughts will dictate our mental, emotion and physical well-being. It is therefore vital that we place our focus on what makes us happy, on changing our thoughts and thus encouraging us to manage our emotional and our physical health.
Balance is key to creating a fulfilling and joyful life. In achieving happiness it is essential that we find balance between all the different aspects of our lives. Our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health are all equally important and we must find a way to focus on each aspect within ourselves, to grow and to develop and thus heal ourselves.
While everyone’s need for happiness is universal, what is brief or lasting happiness is as unique as each of us is.
